NCAA Settlement Q&A Guide

The NCAA has released a comprehensive 36-page Q&A guide outlining how the House settlement will be implemented. This document is structured into six key sections: General Information; Changes to Division Legislation; Roster Limits; Institutional Benefits and the Benefits Cap; Non-Institutional NIL and the NIL Group Licensing Initiative (NIL GO); and Enforcement Rules and Process. Each section helps institutions and athletic departments understand the evolving rules and responsibilities in the changing NCAA landscape.

For those of us working with or supporting student-athletes, it’s worth noting that the NCAA also published a separate Q&A document tailored specifically for athletes. As the structure of college sports continues to shift, these resources provide insight into what athletes and their families can expect—from scholarship changes and team size limits to how schools may offer new forms of compensation. It’s a lot to take in, but these documents are a critical step in preparing for a new era in college athletics where transparency, accountability, and support must keep pace with the increasing professionalization of the student-athlete experience.
